A softer little world,
built with love.
Mello started in a very ordinary kitchen, on a very not-ordinary Tuesday. Here’s how we got from that moment to your family’s bedtime routine.
A tantrum, a coffee cup, and a question that wouldn’t go away.
In 2022, our founder Laura was on the kitchen floor with her crying 4-year-old, coffee cold, email unread, and the quiet thought: there has to be a better way to do this together.
She tried the meditation apps. Too clinical, too adult-only. She tried the parenting books. Too much reading, not enough doing. She tried the reward charts. They turned into screaming matches about stickers.
What was missing was a tool built for the whole family — warm like a hug, not like a lecture. Something you’d actually want to open. Something a kid would ask for by name.
So she teamed up with a pediatric psychologist, a game designer who’d shipped apps kids obsess over, and a handful of very honest families. Mello was born in late 2023, tested with 200 families, and launched publicly in spring 2025.
We didn’t want to build another productivity app with a smile slapped on. We wanted to build the friend we wished we’d had during the hardest season of parenting — warm, funny, actually helpful.
This is Mello.
Your family’s chief chill officer.
Part wellness coach. Part cheerleader. 100% in your corner. Mello shows up every morning with a little plan, and every night with a little story.
Four values, written on the wall.
Every feature, every word of copy, every animation gets asked these four questions first.
Warm, never clinical.
We write like your best friend who happens to be a child psychologist — not like a therapist’s waiting room. Parenting is hard enough without an app making you feel worse.
Cute + rigorous.
Every ritual is grounded in peer-reviewed developmental psychology and co-designed with our clinical advisory board. We’d rather be nerdy and right than trendy and wrong.
Nobody’s left out.
Every feature works for parents AND kids. No silos, no “grown-up zone” with the good stuff. You grow together, or not at all.
Delight is a feature.
A Sunday Reveal that feels like unwrapping presents. A cat mascot with moods. Tiny animations that make kids giggle. We refuse to be another boring wellness app.
From kitchen floor
to forty-thousand families.
We’re a small team and
we read every email.
Whether you’ve got a feature idea, a story to share, or a tiny piece of feedback — we’d genuinely love to hear from you.
